When Gordon was applying to East Coast colleges many years ago, one of the cities he stopped in was Washington, DC. He visited the science museums- that went without saying- but one of the places he more or less got dragged to was the Holocaust Museum. Right now, he's remembering being stuffed into the elevator without an explanation, and the footage taken by the first American forces to roll into certain captured areas... specifically, the stunned disbelief in the voices of the commanders reporting about the sheer magnitude of the 'prisons' they were seeing, and the horrified words "Things like this just don't happen."
Even if he's wrong in the details, he knows what the Combine are willing to do, and what they've done. It's enough to form an expectation with. So he just nods.
